Mike Weaver kicked a 60 yard field on the final play of the game as the Massachusetts Pirates stunned the New York Streets 54-52 Friday Night at the Westchester County Center. The winning field goal came moments after Billy Deane had kicked a 24 yard field goal with three seconds left to give the Streets a 52-51 lead. After the ensuing kickoff, only one second came off the game clock giving the Pirates a chance to win and clinch a berth in the National Arena League Playoffs.
For the Streets (3-8), it was their seventh straight loss but they remain tied with the Columbus Lions for the 4th and final playoff berth in the NAL. David Legree threw for 264 yards and six touchdowns while also running for a score. Edgar Allen Poe had eight catches for 151 yards and three touchdowns while Rob Jones made his return to the Streets lineup with two touchdown catches.
Quarterback Sean Brackett led the Pirates (7-4) to their sixth straight win as he threw for 274 yards and five touchdowns while also registering a touchdown run. Marty Gilyard had nine catches for 274 yards and two touchdowns while Devonn Brown had three touchdown catches.
