The Massachusetts Pirates finished off a home and home sweep as they beat the Streets 68-53 Saturday night at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. With the loss, the Streets have now dropped two in a row and three of their last four as they fall to 3-3 in their inaugural season.
For the Streets, quarterback E.J. Nemeth threw for 290 yards and seven touchdown passes while also registering a touchdown run. Wide receiver Rob Jones turned in a monster game with 15 catches for 148 yards and three touchdowns. Edgar Allen Poe had ten catches for 79 yards and a touchdown while Devante Jenkins had three touchdown receptions. Defensively, Darius Thomas notched seven tackles while defensive back Lee Lewis Jr. made his Streets debut and had a tackle.
With the win, Massachusetts improves to 3-4 on the season. Pirates quarterback Sean Brackett turned in his second straight brilliant start against New York completing 21 out of 25 passes for 230 yards and six touchdowns. Brackett, who also had two touchdown runs, hooked up with Marty Gilyard seven times for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Former NFL star Dexter McCluster had four catches for 33 yards and a touchdown.
The Streets are back in action next weekend as they return home to the Westchester County Center in White Plains on Saturday afternoon June 8th to battle the defending NAL champion Carolina Cobras in a 3pm kickoff.
